How’s Bobby Doing?

I was eavesdropping on my U12’s when a mom approached me. “How’s Bobby doing?” she asked.

Before I could respond, Bobby’s voice boomed from about twenty yards away. “When a woman is pregnant,” he announced to his teammates while placing a soccer ball under his t-shirt, “It’s easy to tell if they’re having a boy or a girl. If it’s a girl it sits up higher, like this,” he pushed the ball up just below his chest. “If it’s a boy it’s way down here,” he pushed the ball down below his belly button.

“He doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” one of the kids said to another.

“Yeah he does, he has a younger sister and brother,” another kid said, and then added, “And he’s from Ohio.”

I raised my eyebrows to Bobby’s mom and started to giggle.

“Never mind,” she said. “I guess he’s going to be an obstetrician.”
